In My Genes is a film rooted in director Danica “Dizzy” Ricamara’s family migration stories and her upbringing in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The work reflects on denim as a symbol of memory and continuity, linking past and present through lived experience. Through this lens, the film considers how communities, culture, and personal history shape identity and the places we call home.
Join us for a screening followed by an artist talk and audience Q&A with Danica “Dizzy” Ricamara and cinematographer Ashley Iris Gill, discussing the creative process, collaboration, and translating personal histories into film.
This free, in-person event invites artists, filmmakers, and community members to gather for an intimate evening of conversation and reflection.
